An Oxford Conversation: COVID-19: the impact of misinformation and uncertainty

Join us for a discussion about the impact of misinformation and uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic on individuals and populations with a panel of experts:

•    Professor Sir Peter Horby, Director of the Pandemic Sciences Institute, University of Oxford

•    Dr Richard Horton, Editor-in-Chief, The Lancet

•    Professor Devi Sridhar, Chair in Global Public Health, University of Edinburgh

The aim will be to determine how to do better in the future. For example, how should the desire to act rapidly in a pandemic be balanced against the need for reliable evidence, how can scientific journals determine what research is fit to publish, and how can misinformation be identified in a world of artificial intelligence?

The event will start at 17:30 with short introductory remarks from each member of the panel, followed by a discussion between them before opening it up to members of the audience.
