Join us for a breath-taking evening of symbolic and spiritual Whirling Dervish performance accompanied by traditional Turkish Sufi music by master musicians!
The UK tour of the Whirling Dervishes by Istanbul Sufi Ceremonies Ensemble will entail a series of events including the Mevlevi Sema Ceremony, Devran Dhikr (remembrance of God), lectures and concerts.
The second stage of the tour will take place on the 13th of February at Sheldonian Theatre, an architectural jewel at the heart of Oxford.
The Whirling Dervishes: Mevlevi Sema Ceremony & Devran Dhikr organised by Yunus Emre Insitute London in collaboration with the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism and supported by Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies and Oxford Turkish Society, aims to introduce and represent the authentic Sema ceremony in its traditional and genuine form.
